Christmas Party 2007
|
Each year in December, the chapter has a Chrismas party. In 2007, it was held on December 8,
at the home of Bill & Henry. It was very well attended, and it included a seemingly unlimited
range of potluck dishes. Each attendee brought an unwrapped toy
suitable for a young child, so that the chapter could donate them to a local charity that has
taken on the task of helping to ensure that no child celebrates Christmas without receiving
at least one toy. Also, in accordance with tradition, there was a White Elephant drawing: each
participant drew a number at random; and when his number was drawn, he chose one
wrapped gift brought by someone else for use in the drawing. After unwrapping it and showing it
to everyone, he also had the option of exchanging it for the prize that any prior participant had
drawn. The photos below shown some of the often amusing prizes and even more amusing results
of insisting that someone else surrender what he got for what you got.

To the left, Arty examines his brand new Olympus camera box, that contained a pelican. You
guessed it: someone else, later in the drawing, stole it (the pelican, not the box) from Arty.
|
To the right is Kevin, immediate past President of the chapter. He got (and got to keep) some
easy listening of old.

To the left is Tom, chapter VP. Though clearly the box he has chosen is not big enough to
contain a real elephant, he seems to be hestitating? Could it be the color -- the color of
the box, not the elephant.
|
To the right is Keith, rapidly heading for stage left with his icon. How did that get into
the White Elephant drawing, let alone do so in what certainy appears to be its original
packaging no less!
